On the contrary, a special blessing is promised to anyone who reads or anyone who hears the words of this prophecy. Because many people in John’s time could not read or write, a scribe, priest, or someone else who could read would read scriptures out loud for the benefit of others. In A Layman’s Guide to the Book of Revelation, author Reverend Fredrick A. Wierschke offers an easy-to-understand interpretation of this book in the Bible. Following the lead of the Holy Spirit, Wierschke analyzes the scriptures verse by verse, presenting in-depth and thorough insight into this often-misunderstood book. The book guides its readers into an in depth study of the Revelation using the critical analysis of commentators of the past to help the reader better understand the present times and God’s plan for the future. The guide defines key words in the Greek translation, and explains the symbolic use of numbers, colors and the foreshadowing of crucial aspects of Israel’s history which will aid in deciphering the visions given to the apostle. The guide further explains the types and use of the Old Testament prophets. By understanding the Old Testament Scriptures the student will better appreciate the background of the language and the Hebraic symbolism used in Revelation. The guide also sheds light on the use of foreshadowing of past empires used in the Old Testament that will further aid in the interpretation of the future and the end-times that we are assuredly apart. The guide takes the reader verse by verse; chapter by chapter through the commentators interpretive views so they can study at their own pace and arrive at their own conclusions. The book also includes a commentary by the author that offers his own insights into Revelation that will surely be of use to those who look to God’s word to better understand the times we live.

There moves through it a beauty and a serenity which no mortal man can fully explain. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Words mean things and how you use them either maintains there meaning or belittles it and destroys its total value. Such is the word awesome. When our youth use the word awesome for cars, Androids, or even their girlfriend, they are belittling the words characterization. The word awesome should only be used for the greatness of the Lord God or His works for mankind. It can be used for something that is greater than itself and stands out above all others. This book cover represents the awesomeness of God and His creation. As the Scripture declares, the universe fits between the span of Gods hand. This is awesome, and it is unfathomable in mans contemplating of it. If this is awesome, how can you compare anything to it? Our universe is billions of light years across, and we have no knowledge as to its size, for we have nothing to compare it too; however, what does this say about the awesomeness of God. God does not have hands or legs but uses them as idioms for our comprehension. Even with idioms, it is incomprehensible to realize just how awesome God really is. Scripture speaks of God as omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnipresent (everywhere); and with this in mind, He is wisdom and is sovereign (ruler) over all His creation. He is maintaining everything by His character and for His glory, and His ways are above our ways and His thoughts are above our thoughts.

As I have studied the book of Luke, I wrote what I saw, thought, and I believe the Holy Spirit revealed to me. This is not meant to be a commentary or academic thesis. I am not capable of that. Instead, it is what I have come to see and love about Luke. He was a layman and historian, not one of the disciples, or a prophet. He was a doctor who was used by God to write inspired scripture. Many think he is the only Gentile writer of the Bible. As you read this book, my prayer is that you will come to love Luke as I have.

This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you looked around at the world and felt as though everything was falling apart? America is struggling economically and no one has any answers. Unemployment has been over 9% for over two years now. It feels like the government is trying to take control of our lives. There is speculation that Greece might collapse economically, and, if they do, other European countries will follow suit. The Middle East is in total chaos and very unstable, with all these people rioting in the streets and wreaking havoc on their respective countries, along with dictators falling and rising from power. Iran is still telling everyone they are intent on annihilating Israel as they improve their nuclear capabilities. As Christians, our hope is in Jesus Christ; we know that our God is sovereign, so all the chaos in the world has no effect on how God brings the world to an end. But the end is in sight, and people are looking for something certain in this world. There are so many questions Christians have regarding End Times Prophecy and do not understand, simply because the church has not fulfilled its purpose in rightly dividing the Word of truth for the saints. The Complete Layman's Guide to End Times Prophecy will bring together all the questions one might have regarding the end of the world and the return of the Warrior King Jesus Christ to this earth to set up His millennial kingdom. This book is clear, concise, and cogent in its message and attempts to address all End Times Prophecy questions. Prayer as Joy, Prayer as Struggle
Author : Mark Braaten

ISBN 10 : 0814629245
Pages : 124 pages
Rating : 4.2/5 (629 users)
Download or read book Prayer as Joy, Prayer as Struggle PDF or another Format written by Mark Braaten and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mark Braaten describes the experience of seeing the sun rise on a northern Minnesota lake and spontaneously offering thanks to God. He describes sitting beside his children's bed as they sleep and resting in the awareness of God's blessings. Confronted by such beauty, prayer flows out of us. That is to say, there are times when we are easily aware that we are in the presence of God, our awe comes naturally, and our prayer is full of joy. But Braaten also points out that at times prayer is a struggle. Life is often not awe inspiring and prayer is often not easy. We find our praying frustrating and difficult. Our prayer life is a journey of both joy and struggle. It is learning to recognize and reach out to God; even more it is recognizing how God is constantly reaching out to us. Braaten explores many types of prayer, including thanksgiving, confession, praise, wrestling, petition, intercession, listening, and hope. He also explores what it means when the answer to prayer is no and how we experience prayer in doubt and in confidence. In each chapter, he uses an extended biblical example of prayer and also provides the text of prayers we can use in our own practice. For all who seek joy in prayer, even as we struggle, Braaten offers an engaging personal and pastoral reflection on the ways we pray.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sordid romance! Gripping intrigue! Fast-paced action! None of these really describe a book about theology, and they, surprisingly enough, do not apply to "A Layman's Christianity," either. However, if you are looking for a well thought out book, replete with scriptural references, written, not by a dreary doctorate of theology nor by a "hip," "young" pastor of a mega-lo-church, but by an average joe, then look no further. Written from a young man's perspective, "A Layman's Christianity" is a book that delves into the belief that every man has the right to think about who God is and what He wants from our lives and that phrase, "every man," is not restricted to age, gender, or educational background, but rather should be based on the author's commitment to God and his love for His Bible. "A Layman's Christianity" is not a "how-to-manual" for living a better Christian life, but is rather an outline of several characteristics and ideas that, taken together, form the author's ideal Christian. Leaving room open for argument and individual thought, "A Layman's Christianity" refuses to be taken at face value and insists that the reader check its assertions with the Bible, thus fulfilling the purpose of the book: that every man and woman who follows after God has the right and responsibility to think about Him and upon Him.
