Jesus will return within 40 years of the creation of the state of Israel in 1948! The Battle of Armageddon will come when the Soviet Union invades Israel over oil! Those newspaper mileposts passed and the Soviet Union fell. The faithful Christian has his faith shaken every time prophetic teaching based on the New York Times fails. Critics have a field day with each wrong interpretation. Then a new theory that fits the daily news better than the last one pops up. Each time, the sensational new speculation fails. Could it be that prophecy writers are listening to CNN more than to God? When a careful Christian reads a scholarly work, it can be about as interesting as reading the telephone book. Scholars do great research, but their books generally are written to other scholars, not to the rest of us. Isn't there a better choice? You're holding it. A Primer on the Book of Daniel is designed for you. It's written in your language, not the almost-foreign jargon of the scholar. At the same time, it's drawn from the work of scholars who have studied the Bible carefully for years. Their work has been assembled and translated so you can understand what the Bible says when it's allowed to interpret itself. Using plain language, Daniel gets to explain himself.

If a Jewish fisherman understood what his Rabbi showed him, then it shouldn't be hard for us, either. We just need his tools. Fortunately, God left them for us in the same place John found them: the Bible. This Primer uses the rest of the Bible to explain Revelation in plain language. We've banned the big words professors use. We've thrown out their multi-part sentences, and we don't waste time explaining why we disagree with somebody. Instead, we try to let the text speak for itself. When you read this Primer, you'll see that it was written for you with great respect for God's word. By the way, Revelation isn't that complicated. After all, it's "the revealing of Jesus Christ."

This book was released on 2011-08-25 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employing such disciplines as historical criticism, literary criticism, narrative theology, and hermeneutics, Reading Daniel as a Text in Theological Hermeneutics seeks to maintain an interdisciplinary approach to the Book of Daniel. Through this approach, the author sets out to understand and interpret the Book of Daniel as a narrative exercise in theological hermeneutics. Two inherently linked perspectives are utilised in this particular reading of the text: First is the perception that the character of Daniel is the paradigm of the good theological hermeneut; theology and hermeneutics are inseparable and converge in the character of Daniel. Second is the standpoint that the Book of Daniel on the whole should be read as a hermeneutics textbook. Readers are led through a series of theories and exercises meant to be instilled into their theological, intellectual, and practical lives. Attention to the reader of the text is a constant theme throughout this thesis. The author's concernis primarily with contemporary readers and their communities, and so greater emphasis is placed on what the Book of Daniel means for contemporary readers than on what it meant in its historical setting. However, sensible consideration is given to the historical readerly community with which contemporary readers find continuity. In the end, readers are left with difficult challenges, a sobering awareness of the volatility of the business of hermeneutics, and serious implications for readers to implement both theologically and hermeneutically.

Once there, Daniel begins an incredible journey as he becomes ruler over the province of Babylon, receives visits from archangels, and ultimately, stands in the presence of God. This is all brought about because Daniel chooses to worship God, and because of this, God blesses Daniel with incredible wisdom and insight to interpret "visions and dreams of all kinds." On two occasions Daniel and his friends are faced with the command to worship false gods or be killed. But, in some of the most miraculous events of the entire Bible, God intervenes and keeps them from sure death. Because of the blessing from God, Daniel is able to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar's troubling dream about the future of four powerful kingdoms from the time of King Nebuchadnezzar right up until the time of Jesus Christ's return when God's everlasting kingdom will finally be ushered in. God reveals three powerful kingdoms that will succeed Babylon and carry on their traditions of religion and worship. As you read this book you'll be surprised to learn what kingdom we're now in, how the Babylonian religious system is all around us, and what God says is in store in the future for the nations. Just as in the time of Daniel, those who make the choice to worship the true God today will be blessed with understanding during this turbulent time at the end of the age.

Using both case studies and wider analysis, the authors examine music listening and participation between children and parents in both domestic and public settings, ranging across children's music media, digital streaming, live concerts, formal and informal popular music education, music merchandising and song lyrics. Placing young children’s musical engagement in the context of the music industry, changing media technologies, and popular culture, Popular Music and Parenting paints a richly interdisciplinary picture of the intersection of popular music with the parent–child relationship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is my meaning, what is my purpose? How are they different? Why do these matter? What can I do to make my life more meaningful? Is purpose something we discover, or something we create? How does meaning play a role in being successful in life? Logoteleology, also known as Meaningful Purpose Psychology, or more simply MP, provides the foundation and understanding that are needed to answer these and other life-defining questions that we all come across in some way each day in our personal and professional lives. Explored throughout this book are the basics of meaning, purpose, motivation, and much more that are the groundwork of MP. Marrero and Persuitte lay this out in a way that is useful both to individuals who seek to find and connect to meaning and purpose in life, as well as for those who coach and guide others. A handy introductory guide to Meaningful Purpose Psychology, this text builds on the science first introduced in the award-winning book The Path to a Meaningful Purpose, authored by Luis A. Marrero, incorporating further insights and concepts from this evolving psychological theory and practice. Starting from the central thesis of MP, “Mankind...does not suffer from a lack of answers. Rather, it suffers despite the answers being available”, this text includes a fresh perspective and greater clarity to the blocks to meaning we experience as part of this paradox. The methodology included in this text shows how we can increase self-awareness to these obstructions of reality and truth. By using the information and methods explored throughout this text we are on a meaningful journey toward being the best versions of ourselves - as communicators, leaders, partners, parents, employees, coaches, teammates, friends, and members of the communities, groups, and organizations to which we belong. Welcome to the path!

This book was released on 2019-05-30 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first reference resource on how Asian Americans are currently reading and interpreting the Bible, this volume also serves a valuable role in both developing and disseminating what can be termed as Asian American biblical hermeneutics. The volume works from the important background that Asian Americans are the fastest growing ethnic/racial minority population in the USA, and that 42% of this group identifies as Christian. This provides a useful starting point from which to examine what may be distinctive about Asian American approaches to the Bible. Part 1 of the Handbook describes six major ethic groups that make up 85% of Asian population (by country of origin: China, Philippines, Indian Subcontinent, Vietnam, Korea, Japan) and outlines the specific concerns each group has when its members read the Bible. Part 2 of the Handbook examines major critical methods in biblical interpretation and suggests adjustments that may be helpful for Asian Americans to make when they are interpreting the Bible. Finally, Part 3 provides 25 interpretations by Asian American biblical scholars on specific texts in the Bible, using what they consider to be Asian American hermeneutics. Taken together the Handbook interprets the Bible both with and for the Asian American communities.
