Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On February 20, 1959, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker announced to the House of Commons the cancellation of the CF-105 Arrow. Its development costs to that time were $340 million. The Arrow was to be the world’s unsurpassed interceptor aircraft. Yet within two months of the Prime Minister’s announcement, six completed aircraft were dismantled and all papers and documents associated with the project were destroyed. Here is the history and development of the Arrow - the plane that would make Canada the leader in supersonic flight technology. The Arrow was designed to fly at twice the speed of sound and carry the most advanced missile weapons system. Here are the stories of the men and women who were in the vanguard of the new technology - who had come from England, Poland, and the United States to make aviation history.

Book excerpt: There’s nowhere to hide in the Great Sea Reef in this heart-stopping thriller of a yarn In this follow-up to 2018’s Arrow’s Flight, a tale of an 18th-century sunken ship and a fortune in gold sends Arrow and her crew on a venture that seems harmless enough. That is, until it attracts the attention of the flamboyant owner of the Golden Dragon, a 240-foot sailing machine crewed by cashiered ex-marine Lord Barclay Summers and his band of mercenaries. When Arrow and her crew are viciously attacked, they seek shelter in the treacherous Great Sea Reef where they become ensnared in a life-and-death sailing match against the murderous crew of the Golden Dragon. Continuing the same heart-pounding excitement of Arrow’s Flight, Joel Scott weaves together terrific storytelling, breathtaking action, and an in-depth knowledge of sailing. Arrow’s Fall will be a battle of instinct versus science, old versus new, wood and cloth against steel and technology, with destruction and death waiting on a missed tack.

Download or read book LAOS FOLKLORE - Folk, Fairy and Moral Tales from Ancient Siam PDF or another Format written by Anon E. Mouse and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2017-01-28 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 48 Folk-Tales in this book hail from the South East Asian land-locked country of Laos. Herein are stories like The Enchanted Mountain, The Spirit-Guarded Cave, The Monkeys and the Crabs, The Origin of Lightning (a tale which seems to be endemic amongst all the world’s cultures,) The Faithful Husband, The Cheating Priest and many more children’s stories which cover Romance and Tragedy, Temples and Priests, Moderation and Greed, Parables and Proverbs and The Wonders of Wisdom. There is also a small collection of Stories which went Astray. When these were first gathered by Katherine Neville Fleeson, the country was a part of the kingdom of Siam, and are uniquely South East Asian in their charm and complete novelty. Until the translator of this volume collected these stories, they were even unwritten, with a single exception which was found in an ancient Laos manuscript. They are, and have been, orally preserved in the provinces which constitute the Laos country, just as they have been handed down from generation to generation, with slight variations in words or incidents. In older times, village elders would tell the stories at their merrymakings around the camp-fires and within their primitive houses, to amuse and instruct the youth and children. However, with the advent of the electronic age, this tradition is being lost, and the more the pity for it. To the Scholar, who is a student of the world's Folk-Lore, you may be assured that you have here a small window in history with the tales of Laos, unobscured, just as they were told when this volume was published in 1899.

Today, I am leaving and striking out on my own to build a new life for myself in the peace of the mountains. I am going it alone until I discover that Arrow, my brother’s friend, has followed me. Arrow knows of my past, and he has never stepped over the boundaries I have set with men, so I let him join me. Yet, the nightmares from my past never go away. They continuously feed my fears of getting close to any man, including Arrow. On our journey, we stumble across the path of the Dream Walker. With his whispers, I give in to his charms, hoping they will heal me. Night after night, he visits, taking my nightmares away, and I find myself falling in love with him. But he isn’t real. Arrow, however, is real. He has always stood by me, and although he pushes me at times, no man has ever made me feel so safe. I want to give in to love and a future I never saw for myself. To do so, I will have to face my past once and for all. Warning: This book deals with the challenges a woman may face after an attack by rape. There is a brief reflection of the act that is shown in a dream state. This story was written in the perspective of overcoming emotional fears, self-doubt, and having the support of loved ones to help see you through. The state of mind the young woman experiences, is built around a menage relationship in a part of reality and fantasy.
