Book excerpt: The Bible is an all-time bestseller, the most translated book, and the most controversial title. Throughout the ages this precious book has been persecuted and preserved, yet many today are weak in the faith and, therefore, question the inspiration of the Bible. Our Authorized Bible Vindicated explores the history of the Bible from the earliest manuscripts until now, demonstrating how it has been preserved in its entirety. Today more than ever there is a need to return to the authentic roots of our spiritual foundation. With the lines between truth and falsity blurring, it is imperative that we discern what is accurate and what is not. Satan is working overtime to the point, if it were possible, of deceiving the very elect through faulty Bible translations and a dismissal of the Word of God. This book seeks to confirm and establish faith in the Bible, an infallible book that is the key to all of life's questions.

This book was released on 2017-06-08 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back in 1930, B.G. Wilkinson published Our Authorized Bible Vindicated. Some of his college colleagues took exception to his book and criticized it publicly. Since Wilkinson, who was a professor in one of our colleges, was having his scholarship questioned, it was mandatory that he reply. This book is his reply to their "review " and criticism. It literally "downs" them on every argument. Since feelings and rivalry were running high, the General Conference of those days requestioned Wilkinson to not publish this work. He agreed. Since the individuals concerned are no longer on the scene, and since the issue of modern versions is now a very important topic, we feel that this work should be available to students. At the time Our Authorized Bible Vindicated was published, the NIV had not come on the scene. Wilkinson's main concern was with the Revised Version and the American Revision, both springing from the works of Westcott and Hort (on the RV). All modern versions also have taken their basis from the Westcott-Hort Greek Text. It is time we re-examined their sources and reasoning.

Book excerpt: It is an interesting fact of history that as the Reformation progressed, the Reformers adopted the Received Text in union with the Waldenses; the Jesuit-inspired counter-Reformation adopted the Latin Vulgate and the Vaticanus. What do we see today? Most of the modern versions are based upon the text of the counter-Reformation. In addition, we see increased negativity toward the Textus Receptus and the King James Version. This has not been without adverse effects upon all of Protestantism and Adventism, specifically. This book provides insights into the causes and effects that the doctrinal pluralism of the common text Bibles of the counter-Reformation have had on Adventist doctrine. Since doctrinally pluralistic Bibles cannot function as self-interpretive units, an interpretive authority from outside of Scripture is brought into play. As a result, creedalism is overtaking Biblical authority. History has demonstrated the sure results of this misplaced authority.

In fact, many Americans thought of the KJV as the foundational text of the Republic, rather than a cultural inheritance from Anglican Britain. In the nineteenth century, however, as new editions of the Greek New Testament appeared, scholars increasingly recognized significant errors and inconsistencies in the KJV. This soon 1ed to the Bible revision movement, whose goal was the uniting of all English-speaking Protestants behind one new, improved version of the Bible. Ironically, as Peter Thuesen shows in this fascinating history, the revision movement in fact resulted in a vast proliferation of English scripture editions and an enduring polarization of American Christians over versions of Holy Writ. The recurrent controversies over Bible translations, he argues, tell us less about the linguistic issues dividing conservatives and liberals than about the theological assumptions they have long held in common.

It is instead a book to be read by the individual who truly has the desire to know and understand how God has preserved His precious Word throughout the course of time. Whether you were blessed to grow up in a home where it was never questioned that the Authorized or King James Bible was the preserved Words of God, whether you grew up in a home or went to a church where any Bible was considered the preserved Words of God, or whether you are a new Christian confused by all the different “Bibles” available today, if you truly want to know how God preserved His Words, then this book is for you. This is a book that has been years in the making. Dr. Andrew Steers is an obvious student of the Bible, and he has spent years in the preparation and study needed to qualify him to write this book. This is a book that is desperately needed in this era and should be read and studied by every Christian, but especially by those planning to serve God in full-time service.

The book includes textual criticism of the existing manuscripts and autographs, including the Textus Receptus, the Majority, Eclectic, and Minority texts, and the Masoretic Text. It also provides needed answers to the arguments of those who adhere to extreme or exclusive positions. This book is excellent for pastors, teachers, and laypersons alike.
