Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Charlie, Rick, and Katy have never seen a Bigfoot. Yet soon each of them will, separately, experience something inexplicable in the woods, something that makes them question their worldview, something that sets them on the path to their destiny. Father and son Charlie and Rick Bergren go through the same events together but react in vastly different ways. Katy Gallagher, while hiking alone in the woods, gets shaken up by a strange series of events that will alter her future in ways she hasn't yet imagined. If you've read the Human Origins Series novels, then you know these characters well. If not, then take this chance to meet them. In Bigfoot Beginnings, find out how they first experienced the Bigfoot phenomenon, and how those events changed their lives. This Kindle book contains three short stories, plus a bonus story from the collection The Bigfoot Effect (Human Origins Series: Backstories, Vol. 2). ---------- The stories in this e-book are also available in paperback as part of the collection Confronting Sasquatch. ++++ From the author: Every character has a backstory. Readers may not be privy to the entire background of each character, but the writer knows each of them intimately. Events from the characters' pasts only make it into a novel if they're vital to the story. But what happened to these folks before they woke up inside one of my novels? To answer that question, I started writing short stories to flesh out the background of each character. In The Hunt for Bigfoot, Katy mentions that she's never seen a Bigfoot before. Yet she believes in this mysterious beast without question. How did she come by that belief? Also in HFB, Charlie is a disgraced history professor on the verge of getting fired for his interest in Bigfoot. What convinced him to risk his career by investigating the Bigfoot mystery? And then there's Rick, a skeptic of the most diehard variety. He ridicules Katy and his father, Charlie, for their interest in Bigfoot. He proclaims that no such creature could possibly exist. But did something in his past foster his adamant skepticism? In Bigfoot Beginnings, I explore these questions. I hope you will enjoy reading about these characters as much as I've enjoyed creating them.

Plunging into the depths of Michigan's north woods, Katy and Rick tumble into a double-edged mystery -- a hidden Bigfoot society protected by an ancient race with highly advanced technology who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets; and a mysterious billionaire willing, for his own reasons, to kill to preserve the Bigfoot legend. To stay alive, Katy and Rick must unravel an enigma half a billion years in the weaving. They must find the creatures science says cannot exist.

Book excerpt: The importance of the fourteenth century for the development of English law has long been recognised. The shocks and challenges of that period - the murder of the incompetent Edward II, Edward III's ever escalating military demands for the war in France and the unparalleled disaster of the Black Death - gave English society a trauma that found its ultimate expression in Lollardy and the Peasants' Revolt. Out of this ferment came the evolution of a system of justice still substantially recognisable today. This key theme for students of late medieval England has often been made needlessly difficult by the rarefied nature of most books available on the subject. The aim of this book is to present in lucid and approachable terms the main outline of the debate and the different schools of thought, and to suggest the best ways by which students can understand a crucial subject and how this helps illuminate many other aspects of English society during the reigns of Edward II, Edward III and Richard II.

This book was released on 2013 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genocide, Ethnonationalism, and the United Nations examines a series of related crises in human civilization growing out of conflicts between powerful states or empires and indigenous or stateless peoples. This is the first book to attempt to explore the causes of genocide and other mass killing by a detailed exploration of UN archives covering the period spanning from 1945 through 2011. Hannibal Travis argues that large states and empires disproportionately committed or facilitated genocide and other mass killings between 1945 and 2011. His research incorporates data concerning factors linked to the scale of mass killing, and recent findings in human rights, political science, and legal theory. Turning to potential solutions, he argues that the concept of genocide imagines a future system of global governance under which the nation-state itself is made subject to law. The United Nations, however, has deflected the possibility of such a cosmopolitical law. It selectively condemns genocide and has established an institutional structure that denies most peoples subjected to genocide of a realistic possibility of global justice, lacks a robust international criminal tribunal or UN army, and even encourages "security" cooperation among states that have proven to be destructive of peoples in the past. Questions raised include: What have been the causes of mass killing during the period since the United Nations Charter entered into force in 1945? How does mass killing spread across international borders, and what is the role of resource wealth, the arms trade, and external interference in this process? Have the United Nations or the International Criminal Court faced up to the problem of genocide and other forms of mass killing, as is their mandate?

Across the globe, this effort is paying off as seekers find Christ, the source of truth and peace. In many cultures, though, appeals made on behalf of the Christian faith are met with blank stares, indifference, even mocking hostility. Ken Ham, one of Christendom's most astute observers of evangelism, is convinced that compromise with evolutionary world views has virtually crippled preaching and teaching efforts, especially in Western societies. In this truly bold book, Ham presents an ambitious plan to fulfill the Great Commission. A compelling writer and speaker, Ham deftly exposes the great flaws of Darwinism, and shows how compromise with this philosophy of death is killing the Church. By the jungle of tangled views of reality, and helps committed Christians see the path to effective evangelism.
