Book excerpt: Reveals the tradition of goddess worship in early Judaism and how Jesus attempted to restore the feminine side of the faith • Provides historical and archaeological evidence for an earlier form of Hebrew worship with both male and female gods, including a 20th-century discovery of a Hebrew temple dedicated to both Yahweh and the warrior goddess Anat • Explores the Hebrew pantheon of goddesses, including Yahweh’s wife, Asherah, goddess of fertility and childbirth • Shows how both Jesus and his great rival Simon Magus were attempting to restore the ancient, goddess-worshipping religion of the Israelites Despite what Jews and Christians--and indeed most people--believe, the ancient Israelites venerated several deities besides the Old Testament god Yahweh, including the goddess Asherah, Yahweh’s wife, who was worshipped openly in the Jerusalem Temple. After the reforms of King Josiah and Prophet Jeremiah, the religion recognized Yahweh alone, and history was rewritten to make it appear that it had always been that way. The worship of Asherah and other goddesses was now heresy, and so the status of women was downgraded and they were blamed for God’s wrath. However, as Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince reveal, the spiritual legacy of the Jewish goddesses and the Sacred Feminine lives on. Drawing on historical research, they examine how goddess worship thrived in early Judaism and included a pantheon of goddesses. They share new evidence for an earlier form of Hebrew worship that prayed to both male and female gods, including a 20th-century archaeological discovery of a Hebrew temple dedicated to both Yahweh and the goddess Anat. Uncovering the Sacred Feminine in early Christianity, the authors show how, in the first century AD, both Jesus and his great rival, Simon Magus, were attempting to restore the goddess-worshipping religion of the Israelites. The authors reveal how both men accorded great honor to the women they adored and who traveled with them as priestesses, Jesus’s Mary Magdalene and Simon’s Helen. But, as had happened centuries before, the Church rewrote history to erase the feminine side of the faith, deliberately ignoring Jesus’s real message and again condemning women to marginalization and worse. Providing all the necessary evidence to restore the goddess to both Judaism and Christianity, Picknett and Prince expose the disastrous consequences of the suppression of the feminine from these two great religions and reveal how we have been collectively and instinctively craving the return of the Sacred Feminine for millennia.

Book excerpt: FACING REALITY! (An Introduction) God took me to Holy Ghost school in 2003 and there He opened my eyes wonderfully to begin to know Him in a closer, more intimate and powerful way. My relationship with Him became so steady and sweet that He gave me some messages by revelation, and asked me to publish them. That was how I wrote my first book; “The Journey Into The Wealthy Place”. After I had written that book, I sincerely thought that I had actually “arrived!” But little did I know that it was only the beginning of the journey for me. Which journey? The journey to the place of peace, joy and spiritual rest in Christ, in this life. The journey to the perfect will of God; the journey to the place of abundant life which Christ promised us; the journey to the realms of Christlikeness and life in the Spirit. And so, I thought I had arrived, not knowing that I had only started! I did not know that I had an over value of myself. My spiritual life was still very far from what God had intended it to be, yet I knew it not. I was therefore operating in pride, for high-thought of oneself is pride. I was in this state of pride, ignorance and self-praise until the next thing happened which nearly took my life and the life of my daughter. The Lord visited me suddenly, dramatically and nearly consumed me, like a hungry lion would consume a prey! (Hosea 5:14-15). He visited me to take me into the next stage of my journey with Him. And what was the next stage? “Submission!” “submission to my own husband!” Yes, He came to personally take me into this one thing that I hated so much, which was submission to my husband. The Lord knew that this was one topic I hated so much and which no man or woman could bring me into. He knew I wasn't willing to give it a second thought any day. Yet He knew that was the next thing I must get, else He would drop me from His end-time army! And so He came to personally take me through it. Sincerely speaking, I had never known how serious the issue of submission to husband is to God until He visited me in 2005. I had been a 'pastor' and a woman leader, and had interacted with men and women of God at high levels, yet never had I got the least impression that God could indeed even kill a wife today, in this modern time, for not submitting to her husband! Yes, I knew the story of Lot's wife and I knew that Jesus warned us to “remember Lot's wife” (Luke 17:32), but then, it never really dawned on me that God can do it in our time. I never knew it can be as serious today as it was in those days of Lot! And so the lion came to eat me up because of my lack of submission to my husband, but His mercy finally saved me. Hosea 5:14-15 says: For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear and go away. I will take away, and none shall rescue him. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me early. That was my experience in the hand of the Almighty God as he came down to personally teach me submission to my own husband, in accordance with His word.

I was hit by a car, severely burned on the palms of my hands, and literally thrown out of a car into a busy intersection. Somehow I never sustained any injuries. I had many questions as this divine protection and provision continued throughout my life. Little did I know that what I endured was part of a plan for me to know what I have now learned, and share this with all who will listen. These adventures with our heavenly Father not only gave me answers to my questions but also much understanding of our Father and His works. This book tells about my adventures and part of what I learned. It is the beginning of a series of books containing what our Father has taught me. It was not easy for me to hear. It was not easy for me to write. It is always difficult for us to listen to Him. All He is asking now is for us to listen to what He has told us from the beginning and respond.

It is not a request, nor a gentle suggestion. It is the righteous demand of the Conqueror; the Lion of Judah Bridegroom King; Who comes to claim the one who is rightfully His. Soon as the groom arrives into The Netherlands for a family reunion, he shockingly discovers in her a spoilt woman. The man tries to save his bond of marriage but the wronged woman neither wants to be tamed due to aspects of love, nor does she co-operate. Instead, she rather wants her man to close his eyes and to shut up his mouth if ever he wishes to become a legitimate resident in her country. The egoist man doesnt compromise on self-respect of a saintly husband and thus is thrown out into streets quite empty-handed and undocumented. Then he gets afraid of going back to his homeland predicting a social ridiculous. Years passed in such a dreary and stoned life-style that one day the city police arrests him against his unlawful status and surrenders him to the foreign police who when fails to deport, sets him free like a squeezed lemon after he having served a years custodial sentence. The author describes how a few Asian immigrants and their spoiled descendants who once get settled into the Western states . forget about their past of struggling. . trap and bait to their own continent/ country-fellows by showing on them a false fairyland. . and try to demoralize a Western society by using its culture as a shield or weapon to fulfill their own sensual curiosity which seems difficult to meet in their own sender lands. The author also regrets to inflexibility of the constitution and rejects to the old theory nobody is above law. He urges on the law-makers must to defend on humanitarian grounds to those noble outlanders who become illegal by some accident, or by a misfortune befell on them and not by fraud or cheating like do often the professional invaders or regular tress-passers breaking into some countrys barriers. The whole story convincingly draws a picture of human courage and endurance against all odds mixed in shadow of oppression and optimism by giving an entire message never quit. A compulsively true heart saga with a positive energy_ readable, thought-provoking and enjoyable.

This book is about those images, which can help readers find fresh tools to deepen and enrich their Christian walk. Take the journey and experience The Images of God.

Download or read book One Flesh PDF or another Format written by Joe Fogle and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-05-05 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the sixth day of creation, God formed Adam from the dust of the earth. God then formed Eve from Adam's side. From this day forward man was to leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife. The two are joined together by God in a permanent one-flesh relationship. After man fell, the sins of adultery, fornication, polygamy, and divorce altered God's intention for marriage. This was true of those both outside and inside God's covenant community. By the time the Lord Jesus Christ came in the flesh, the traditions of Judaism had either changed or nullified God's command for marriage. The Lord Jesus Christ came and stated God's original intent for marriage: 1. Permanence. The husband and wife are one flesh. They are permanently joined in a covenant relationship for life. No person has the legal or moral authority to end what God has joined together. No sin or legal document can dissolve the one-flesh bond. 2. Forgiveness. This is Christ's emphasis in dealing with sin. When one spouse fails, the love of Christ compels the other to forgive. Hardness of heart is the cause of unforgiveness and results in divorce. Because of the biblical teachings of Jesus and Paul, the early church held to the permanence of marriage. Over the centuries, Christ's commands on the permanence of marriage have been either changed or nullified. They have been replaced with the traditions of men. In theory, Christians are taught that they may divorce and remarry if their spouse commits adultery or deserts them. In practice, many evangelical Christians are divorcing and remarrying for almost any reason. The Lord Jesus Christ taught God's original intentions regarding forgiveness and divorce. The Word of God has not changed. "What God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9).

Book excerpt: A classic collection of stories showcasing some of India's best-known writers After a hesitant start towards the end of the ninetheenth century, short fiction in Malyalam came into its own in the 1930s. Since then, writer has experimented with content , style and language to give the genre a unique standing in contemporary Indian litereature as perhaps the most translated, not just into English and other Indian languages but also into other media such as flim and televison. From Vaikom Muhammed Basheer and O.. Vijayan to Kamamla Das and Sarah Joesph, this volume brings together an extraordinary range of writers and themes. There are among others, M.T. Vasudevan Mair's ' Oppol', a story about childhood innoccence and loss, which was made into award-winning flim, Paul Zacharia's 'Bhaskara Pattelar and my Life' a brilliant psychological examination of the master-slave dialectic; Lalithambika Antherjanam's path-breaking 'Goddess of Revenge' in which a young Namboodiri woman becomes a prostitute to expose the hypocrisy of her husband and their rigidly orthodox community; and N.S. Madhavan's classic story of an upper-caste widowwho finds redemption in the forbidden touch of a Pulaya. Translated with flair and integrity, these stories capture the vibrancy of a literary culture at its creative best.
